Michel Gorin: EIN NEUER PROFESSIONELLER ETHIKKODEX FÜR DIE BIBLIOTHEKARE UND INFORMATIONSFACHLEUTE DER SCHWEIZ: HINTERGRUND UND ENTSTEHUNG
Zusammenfassung: Der Beitrag berichtet über die Hintergründe und Genese des 2013 neu implementierten bibliothekarischen Ethikkodex der Schweiz. Zunächst erfolgt eine Diskussion der Charakteristika von sowie der Gründe für derartige Kodizes, sowie ihre Abgrenzung zu institutionellen Satzungen. Der erste Ethikkodex der Schweizer Bibliothekare wurde 1998 vom damaligen bibliothekarischen Berufsverband BBS verabschiedet. 2008 wurde BBS mit dem Schweizer Dokumentarverband zu der neuen Berufsvereinigung BIS fusioniert. Deren erweiterte professionelle Bandbreite sowie die inzwischen vergangene Zeit ließen eine Totalrevision des Ethikkodex ratsam erscheinen. Der neue Text ist stark von dem 2012 von der IFLA veröffentlichten internationalen Ethikkodex beeinflusst, weicht aber in einigen Punkten davon ab. Bei seiner Erstellung wurde großer Wert auf die Diskussion mit den Mitgliedern der Berufsvereinigung gelegt. Eine neue Kommission des BIS soll den Ethikkodex propagieren, pflegen und aktualisieren, wobei man sich anstatt auf Sanktionen auf Beratungs- und Überzeugungsarbeit stützen will.

Abstract: The article reports on the background and genesis of the 2013 newly implemented library code of ethics in Switzerland. First, the characteristics of and the reasons for such codes are discussed, as well as their differentiation from institutional statutes. The first code of ethics for Swiss librarians was adopted by the former library professional association BBS in 1998. In 2008 BBS was merged with the Swiss documentary association to the new professional association BIS. The enlarged professional bandwidth of BIS as well as the time elapsed since 1998 suggested a total revision of the code. The new text is heavily influenced by the 2012 published IFLA international code of ethics, but differs in some points from it. At ist creation, great value was placed on the discussion with the members of the professional association. A new committee of the BIS is to promote, maintain and update the code; in doing so one will rely on advisory activities and advocacy rather than on applying sanctions.
