Zusammenfassung: In diesem Beitrag wird die grundlegende Bedeutung der Berufsethik für die bibliothekarische Arbeit erläutert. Bibliothekarische Berufsethik bildet den individualethischen Teil der Bibliotheksethik, die wiederum Teil der umfassenderen Disziplin der Informationsethik ist. 2012 hat die IFLA den IFLA-Ethikkodex als internationale Berufsethik verabschiedet. Funktion, Struktur und Inhalt dieses Dokuments werden im Einzelnen dargestellt.

Abstract: Professional ethics has a significant importance with regard to library work. It represents the individual ethics part of library ethics. Library ethics itself is part of the broader discipline of information ethics. In 2012 IFLA endorsed the IFLA Code of Ethics which is discussed in its function, structure and content in detail.
