David Frank Appointed as Library Deputy Head at Central European University Private University
The Director of the CEU Library in Vienna and Budapest, Diane Geraci, is pleased to announce David Frank’s appointment to a new library position as Head of Information and Instruction Services/Deputy Head at Central European University Private University (CEU PU). Mr Frank graduated from University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, Germany, Department for Library and Information Management with a Diplom-Bibliothekar (FH) degree. Previously he held various positions in the field of information management, most recently serving as Deputy Head/Head of Information Department at Vetmeduni Vienna.
Frank says: “I am very happy to support CEU Library and the international faculty and student body here in Austria. There are several goals which are waiting to be reached. A big one is to connect the librarian colleagues from CEU Library with the librarian community in Austria. We hope to be able to show the Library on Quellenstraße to interested colleagues later this year, as soon as pandemic regulations permit.
Geraci adds, “David Frank is an excellent addition to the library staff and brings extensive experience with public services, instruction, library licensing, and open access. He is a natural fit for us as we look to establish ourselves in the library community in Vienna and work towards establishing our permanent campus on the Otto Wagner site at Steinhof in 2025.”
CEU Library first opened its doors in 2019 to a small cohort of students at CEU’s new campus at Quellenstraße 51, 1100 Wien. Since September 2020, CEU Private University and all its degree program are fully accredited, and CEU Library began offering a broad range of services including the Media Hub where students are taught to produce and edit multimedia projects such as documentary films and audio podcasts.
