February 2018 marks the 550th anniversary of the death of Johann Gutenberg, creator and publisher of the work known as the Gutenberg Bible.
The Gutenberg at Beinecke takes this anniversary as the catalyst for a year-long examination of the Gutenberg Bible, a work as iconic as it is ambiguous. In a series of monthly essays by scholars and artists, the project will explore the many different meanings of the Gutenberg Bible as historical and cultural object.
