The Max Perutz Library, a one-person library specializing in life sciences located at Vienna Biocenter Campus, is looking for a dedicated and service-oriented person to run the activities of the library as a sabbatical substitute. The library provides services to several hundred scientists and students from different scientific institutions, covering research areas such as biochemistry, bioinformatics, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics and molecular biology, immunology, neuroscience, plant science and structural biology. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the established library services independently.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Education in the field of library and information science (preferably)
- Good knowledge of the integrated library management system Aleph 500
- Good knowledge of cataloging and administering online and print resources
- Experience in an academic or research library (preferably)
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills
Responsibilities:
- Managing the library
- Acquiring and cataloging of information material (print and electronic resources, European Journals Library, Aleph 500)
- Loan service, document delivery and interlibrary loan service
- Providing reference service for users
- Maintenance of the library webpage
Working time:
- 1.2.2012 until 31.5.2012 (preferably) or 1.3.2012 until 30.6.2012
- 20 to (preferably) 32 hours per week
- four days per week
