Junior Librarian (f/m)

Key Responsibility:

  • Support the Librarian in providing the following services:
    • Front desk/ access services: maintain circulation module of integrated library system software, process returns of loaned material, supervise use of library space, maintain order of collection
    • Supervise Work Study Scholarship Assistants
    • Reference: consult with patrons to clarify research questions, courteously demonstrate and instruct the use of library resources, continuously update knowledge about library resources
    • Technical services: processing cataloged materials, collection and circulation analysis
    • Additional project related tas
  • Serve the function of Textbook Service Operator, which includes the following responsibilities:
    • Collecting textbook information from Academic Coordinators and Faculty
    • Managing inventory: estimating demand, placing orders, returning overstock / reordering shortfalls
    • Distributing textbooks: provide courteous customer service

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-3 years related work experience
  • Strong customer service orientation skills
  • Experience and knowledge of the use of academic databases and integrated library software
  • Knowledge of cataloging methods and use of bibliographic sources of information
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and German, both orally and in writing

We are looking for an individual with a professional and outgoing personality who connects well with people and brings along a proactive attitude as well as a hands-on mentality. The applicant must have the legal right to work in Austria. The yearly gross salary on a full-time basis (40 hours) for this position is a minimum of 28,000 Euro gross p.a. plus benefits; higher payment depending on qualification and experience.
