Göttingen State and University Library is engaged in several national and international projects on the development of infrastructures and services for electronic publishing and the implementation of Open Access.
In this context, the European project “OpenAIRE-Advance – Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe towards 2020” is seeking a
Scientific Manager
for supporting the forthcoming OpenAIRE-Advance project. This post is offered with immediate effect as a full-time position (currently 39,8 hrs/week, part-time is also possible) on a three year term contract for the project period. Salary is expected to be ca. EUR 45.000 p.a. (pro rata, depending on experience; German salary schema for public employees, TV-L E 14).
This position offers you interesting and varied work within a dynamic international team in a pleasant working atmosphere. IT post will involve a certain amount of travel both within Europe and internationally.
Responsibilities are as follows:
- Manage the communication and dissemination work package, working closely with all areas and coordinators of the project
- Contribute to strategic planning of the network, manage networking tasks and establish coordination activities, ensuring successful support for the implementation of open science policies
- Oversight of topical scholarly communication task groups to increase capacity and knowledge among the network, including training and advocacy programmes
- Help to develop and implement the OpenAIRE legal entity and open science partnerships, including oversight of liaison with the European Open Science Cloud
- Coordination and communication of scholarly communication tasks, including developing technical interoperability guidelines for repositories and publishing platforms and OA monitoring through the Institutional Dashboard
You will need:
- a Master’s degree
- excellent knowledge of and experiences in digital information management, preferably in the area of Open Access / Open Science, research infrastructures and repositories, research data management, publication funds and licensing,
- previous project management experience including the delivery and sustainability of high-profile, multi-partner projects
- experiences in public relations work and the organisation of workshops
- excellent communication and organisational skills with a proven ability to work with a wide range of internal and external contacts and stakeholders
- team spirit, curiosity, goal-oriented, dynamism and sense of initiative
- fluent in English (spoken & written), German would be an asset but is not required
OpenAIRE-Advance continues to implement and underpin the open science policies of the European Commission. At the same time it will drive the transition from open access to open science in terms of European open scholarship and advocacy at the national level. The project aims to reshape the scholarly system towards openness and transparency for researchers and other stakeholders and to provide core scholarly communication services for the practical implementation of open science. OpenAIRE-Advance is the fourth funding phase of OpenAIRE. Göttingen State and University Library acts as the scientific coordinator.
